The 2013 Czech and Slovak national round of ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest was held on October 18-19 at CTU in Prague, coorganized by the dept of computer science. The contest fosters creativity, teamwork, and innovation in building new software programs, and enables students to test their ability to perform under pressure. Quite simply, it is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world.

CTU Open runs as multisite contest parallel in Prague, Brno, Plzen, Ostrava, Banska Bystrica, Bratislava and Zilina. CTU Open is organized by CTU in Prague in cooperation with other universities in Czech Republic and Slovakia under auspices of Czech ACM Chapter.

The contest pits teams of three university students against ten or more complex, real - world problems, with a grueling five- hour deadline. There will be about 125 teams from all Czech and Slovak University teaching IT program in the CTU Open.

The best teams from CTU Open will participate in Central European Regional Contest in November in Krakow. Two best teams from CERC will have right to participate in June 2014 in World Finals in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
