Seminar "Visit at University of Montreal and Center for Maritime Research and Experimentation"
By Ondřej Vaněk
October 2, 2013 in room no. 205
Coming back from long stay abroad, an ATG member Ondřej Vaněk presents new insights and professional knowledge he gained at University of Montreal and Center for Maritime Research and Experimentation
Abstract:
In this informal seminar, I would like to discuss insights acquired during my month-long internship at the University of Montreal: specifically, I would like to talk about (1) a set of data fusion techniques typically used in the context of the maritime situational awareness and (2) a prototype tool for visualization of Montreal traffic based on the flow computation from open datasets (together with a computational method for traffic flow estimation).
Additionally, I would like to discuss potential collaboration with the Center for Maritime Research and Experimentation (http://www.cmre.nato.int/, La Spezia Italy) which I visited last week. This center, focused on underwater autonomous vehicles, maritime security and AIS data processing, actively seeks potential collaboration partners for future projects and offers interesting visiting researcher programs. Our research both from the UAV and CIP branch are relevant to their activities.
